Frequently asked questions
Can the hidden text be recovered?
No. Pages where you mark areas are rasterised with the black boxes already painted, so that page's original text no longer exists in the PDF. Unmarked pages are copied as they are.
What do I lose on redacted pages?
Since they become images, their text can no longer be selected or searched. If you need that, run the OCR tool on the result.
Is Redact PDF free to use on Toolkoa?
Yes, the Redact PDF tool is 100% free, unlimited and requires no sign up or installation.
Are my files sent to any server when using Redact PDF?
No. Every operation on Toolkoa is processed privately and locally, directly in your own browser.
Do I need to install anything to use Redact PDF?
Nothing to install. Redact PDF runs in any modern desktop or mobile browser, and once the page has loaded you can keep using it without relying on the connection.
